CONTINUING EDUCATION-2004
- I. Infection control update ‘04/ Med admin
update 3 hrs
(mandatory for all whose hire date is before January 1,2004)
- II. Resident rights/challenging behaviors
update-Kristin Bock will teach
(Mandatory for all staff who completed the 8hr Resident Rights class and 8
hrs Challenging Behaviors prior to 2004) 3 hrs
- III. Fire safety/first aid update—Gary
Landgraf will teach 3 hrs
(Mandatory for all staff who completed Fire Safety (6 hr) and First Aid (4
hr)
prior to 2004)
- IV. Next in Kristin Bock’s series on
Sexuality Issues (optional) 3 hrs
planned for March/April to November of 2004
- V. Other planned continuing education
offerings for 2004 include:
- *Department of Health and Family
Services speakers on issues relevant to direct support providers. 3 hrs
each
- *Nancy Leipzig on the Advocacy issue. ?

- VI. In addition, you may submit college or
technical school course outlines
with a statement of what you have learned and continuing education credit
may be earned if it is applicable to personal care/provision of direct
support.
Forms for submitting coursework for CE credit are available from Staff
Development or your supervisor.
- VII. Classes/seminars/workshops/meetings
in the community that you attend may also be counted as continuing
education provided you complete the required documentation and submit it
to Staff Development.
- VIII. If you were hired by Clarity Care in
2004: January to March hire date 9 hrs needed this year April to June hire
date 6 hrs needed this year
July to September hire date 3 hrs needed this year October to December
hire date 0 hrs needed this year New hires’ probationary classes do not
meet in-service requirements.
- IX. Please note that 12 hours of
in-service credit per year is both a PCW and
CBRF responsibility. No “makeup” opportunities will be offered at the end
of the year.
- X. Have you completed Needs Assessment
yet? If you are a CBRF employee, this is a required course, unless you
were exempted.
